August 2011… New Slip-Space Reviews!

As further evidence that Slip Space: The Burma-Shave Analogy is still picking up enthusiam after being out almost a year and a half, Adventure Lantern and Adventure Classic Gaming have posted favorable reviews of the game.

Read the last line of Ugur Sener's Adventure Lantern review. Marina, referenced therein, is none other than the Italian struzzo that I mention in the news item from last month. Marina (I'll use her real name now that the secret is out) is also responsible for a review on Adventure's Planet and a very helpful illustrated Walkthrough.

July 2011… Found in the Translation: Italians Are the Most Avid Slip Spacers!

Voglio esprimere un ringraziamento speciale a tutti i giocatori italiani che hanno apprezzato e sostenuto il mio gioco e che mi hanno scritto per chiedermi un sequel.

Sales for Slip Space: The Burma-Shave Analogy have been on a steady uptrend since February. I believe this is occurring due to players, such as GreyFuss, naming it on various forums as one of their favorites games from 2010. Mentions on forums continues to increase and are keeping interest in the game alive. If you frequent forums and you encounter the common thread where someone is seeking suggestions for newer games to play, mention Slip Space as suitable for those who like cognitive efforts such as Rhem and Schizm.

In spite of the game being in english, the single biggest source for recent sales and buzz has been Italy. I've been having a blast exchanging emails with players from a country that is a third of the way around the planet from me. One player in particular has become a virtual expert on the game. Italians know her as struzzo. She occasionally posts on english-language forums as Ostrich. She is relentless in promoting the game.

I greatly appreciate all the support the game is getting and I'm always happy to hear from players.

July 2010… Puzzle-Loving, Cognitive Gamers Unite!

After being available for more than three months, Slip Space: The Burma-Shave Analogy has yet to catch on.

If you really are a cognitive gamer, it's time to step up and buy and play this game and let other cognitive gamers know it's there.

Downloading from this site is reliable. However, the game may soon be available from other better-known sites as well.

By the way, you are a cognitive gamer if you like Riven for the puzzles and the Rhem games in spite of the graphics. I'm that type of gamer and I created Slip Space because I felt we were being under served.

March 2010… Digital Download is Now Available

Finally, you can download and play Slip Space: The Burma-Shave Analogy and get in touch with your inner implant.

I've moved the website to a faster and more powerful server. As such, downloading the 725MB file will be as painless as possible. Further, I've put a system in place to address all possible contingencies in order to guarantee your success in that effort.

January 2010… Slip Space: The Burma-Shave Analogy is Complete

Back in February 2009, I announced on JustAdventure.com that after five years of work, my game was nearly done. I was tempted to note that I was using 'nearly' as a relative term.

In truth, I still had a lot of work to do. I was basing the optimism on how quickly I had finished one particular puzzle environment. Further, I wanted to get some buzz going in hopes of attracting a publisher.

I was convinced at that time, that I could only release the game with the help of a publisher since the size of the game, over 9 GB, seemed to rule out offering the game through digital download.

However, I finally figured out how to compress the various media that bloated the size, particularly bitmaps and sound files. With that accomplished, the game as a zip file is now 725 MB making download a reasonable delivery channel.
